Our country along with the rest of the world is in flux. Things are changing rapidly. Corporate giants once though to be invincible are failing in record numbers and millions of jobs have simply vanished with them. But regardless of how bleak things may look there is always an upside. People are being literally being forced to get creative and many are doing that by going into business for themselves. And there are a lot of success stories coming from the transition from employee to entrepreneur.

What Business Is Best?
If you’ve been considering going into business you probably have a lot of questions. One might obviously be, what type of business should I start? Conventional wisdom has always been that a new business venture should be one the operator has passion for, something familiar. And that’s decent advice.

But there’s something even more important to consider. That is, what do people want and need and are able to afford? If you can attach your passion to a real demand you’ll have a much better chance for success. There’s an easy way to see what people are looking for. eBay is one of the most robust marketplaces anywhere online. Their members sell billions of dollars in products and services every year. So it stands to reason that hot selling items on eBay are in demand everywhere. Do a search on ‘eBay Pulse’ to find out what products are in demand.

You’ll Need A Plan
Another piece to the business success puzzle is having a legitimate plan to follow. It’s also nice to be able to emulate the success of people who have gone before you. We call that modeling in NLP and it’s exactly what it sounds like. Find someone who’s successfully doing what you want to do and do the same things. Simple, huh?

But what if the individual won’t share her secrets? Not a problem. It isn’t difficult to figure out what someone is doing. If it’s a business with a physical location like a restaurant, it’s pretty easy to determine whether it’s successful or not. Any restaurant still open these days is probably successful.

As for online businesses, you can model those even easier. Business plans can literally be had for free online. Just do a search for one that interests you. But before you do allow me to offer a sure-fire outline for online success. There are three components to a profitable online venture. Those are:

  • A product or service with strong demand
  • An attractive and functional Website to showcase the product
  • A sufficient number of visitors to the site who are actually interested in your offer

Pretty simple, huh? But you might be surprised at the number of people in business online who aren’t aware of those three critical components of business success on the Internet. And by the way, I just mentioned that the overall outline is simple, but it’s not necessarily always easy, though it can be with proper knowledge and planning. We’ll go into that next time in wise product selection means success. Thanks for stopping by.
